Hello Rima!

17 credits! And trying to get all those graduation requirements out of the way. Unfortunately the Race & Ethnicity requirement I thought I’d be getting from my Visual Culture of Islam class was removed, but it’s still counting towards Humanities. But yeah, this is going to be a busy and rough semester. Challenge accepted! 

Ran is doing great! He’s doing his things that don’t make sense to anybody else, but, he’s happy. I’ve been seeing Van a lot lately, and I’ve spoken to Lyz a bunch too. I haven’t seen George in a while. I asked him out to lunch the other day but he had class, so we’re planning a Chipotle burrito lunch some time in the future. I’ve also see Brooke a surprising amount as well! I ran into her (+Jaclyn) on the Diag the other day and had soup with them. She’s taking only one art class this semester, the rest are all history related. She really loves history. 

I definitely get the guitar feel from your wordmark!

CFC is the late mandatory class, yeah. We’re making chinese kites, which is kind of odd. Our professor (Ann Mondro) said she was going to be teaching the class different from any other CFC II professor. So I’ll see how that unfolds. 

The egg curry looks amazing! That reminds me, I had Ramen and a Japanese restaurant the other day, and there was a hard boiled egg in it!

You’re being thrown out of your house?? Where are you moving to? Do you have some place in mind?

So I have a dilemma that I need to resolve in less than 13 days. I would like to study abroad via the art school before I graduate, and I was originally planning on this summer but I looked at all the available programs online and no summer/spring programs are listed. This strikes me as odd because I know FOR SURE that they exist, but nobody has emailed me back this weekend and I really need to know if they actually do exist (and what they are) because if I can’t study abroad this summer, I’m not doing it next year because of IP, I would have to do it NEXT SEMESTER. And the deadline to apply would be October 1st. So I’m going to bug the office more this week. 

I think I have some kind of flu… so tonight I’m going to try and get work done for an easy tomorrow and get lots of sleep! I have orange juice in the fridge so I can drink that. 

People are still talking about you here in Ann Arbor Rima! You left quite the impression. I don’t think this weekend will work for a video chat but we’ll skype soon!

how’re you guys doing?

things are really heating up here, i have a tight deadline on my freelance work and my project is very demanding! apart from that, im being thrown out of home and so i have to pack up and move in the next two weeks!! AAAAH!

i love these challenges :) today i helped one of the french students at Srishti with his research and we stopped random people in the building and asked then questions about food- it was great, because we kept getting fed at all the houses we ended up visiting :) so i am stuffed and ready for a BIG NAP :) haha. but gotta work!

James! i enjoyed skyping you the other day! Ylva, we need to skype you soooon before Chicago eats you up! 

I did get your terrific letter, and i hope ONE of mine reaches you atleast, sometime soon. I’m making some cool illustrated postcards tonight and i’m going to send you both some when i’m done! Your Northwood room.. house? is very cool. i like it, but i think it needs some COLOUR, jimmers! Ylva, where are you living? I would love to see some pictures! 

Swing dancing!?! JAMES! that sounds so cool :) haha. i can totally see you doing it, with your cool vest, on! i really hope you can do it next semester. CFC is the class late in the evenings right? the mandatory ones? 

good luck with the Union job :) i would love to see what you’re working on! i had a dream a few nights ago, that i owned a bar/ discotheque maybe, called ‘the acoustic guitar’ :) haha! intrigued, i woke up in the morning and tried scribbling out a logo for it. here’s the one i liked :) tell me what you think!! are you getting the feel of the guitar?

Ran cooks? i had no idea! how is he doing? the dinner sounds delicious and very much like the indian custom of feeding people up, until they’re about to burst! :) please let’s ALL skype one day? i haven’t spoken to van, george, ran, brooke and lyz in a long long time! are you guys in touch ?

you have classes ALL DAY? it sounds hectic! how many credits are you working towards? wow. but i like filling up my life like that too. keepin’ busy :) YLVAAA want to hear from you :) you’ve taken the year off, right? what are you planning to do now? living in chicago must be super different from AA. do you like it there?

Hi Rima + Ylva!!

Have you gotten my letter yet? 

I’m all moved in to my Northwood apartment now and I really like it! It’s nice and just the right size.

Ran invited us over to his house the other night and made us an authentic chinese dinner! It was soooo good… but he made sooo much! He made enough food to get 12 people so full they just couldn’t eat any more. I really hope he makes it again for us.

My first class seemed pretty cool. It’s about the atmosphere and weather changes. Apparently there are no tests in the class though, the entire grade is based off of participation and homework. I’m looking forward to tomorrow though, it’s going to be classes almost nonstop from 8:30am - 10:00pm (I’ll have enough time for a dinner break) but I’m pretty excited for some of them. Or to at least see what they are!

Steph Schutter has agreed to teach me swing dancing since I can’t make it to ballroom/swing ann arbor! The club overlaps with my CFC class so if I left straight from CFC I would get there with like 30 min left to it =( Next semester though, I’m determined to fit that into my schedule!!!

I have an interview with University Unions on Friday! I’m applying for a graphic design job there. I know a couple people who work there so I think it would be really fun to work for them. It’s only 8 hours a week and its graphic design! 

We should pick a day to skype! Would some time this weekend work?? Let me know!!

do you know that it’s EXACTLY A YEAR since i was in Michigan?! September 5 2010 was LAbor Day and i was ill, snuggled up in bed, recuperating from jet lag etc! hahah. (i want to both laugh and cry!) i miss you and i miss being there!

yelvis are you in chicago already? i sent you both gifts and ylva im dying for you too see yours! or for me to see your face when you see it! jimmers, i really really hope you like yours :) it just fit when i saw it!

how has the summer been for the both of you? so much change, huh? i want to hear ALL ABOUT IT! lets do a conference skype call sometime? taking into consideration your time difference as well, maybe some evening? or google+

i’ve been super busy (and i love it!) working on my thesis and doing freelance work, which is paying well, so i have options for school next year! im planning to either do another Masters or apply for artist-in-residence programs in Japan/Turkey/Italy! i’m keeping my options open, but i’m excited to see where life takes me!

Ylva are you going to school in Chicago? i know nothing of what’s been happening with you! UPDATES PLEASE! James, are you excited for your junior year? what classes have you signed up for? I know another Srishti student this year at U-M called Mithula, she’s a Product Design student, you might meet her there!

I was writing this essay and VCR came on by the xx and I thought of you and then I was like OH MY GOSH THE BLOG so I logged on to write you something and I saw you and that cat and I laughed! I really miss you Rima.

Happy Easter! I hope your life calms down soon. Mine is, steadily. Tomorrow is my last class of the semester and then I’m just going to be hanging out with friends and looking the senior IP shows until Spring classes start =) I’m taking Printmaking and Graphic imaging! I’m really excited for Printmaking, and they didn’t post course descriptions for Graphic Imaging so I’m not entirely sure what to expect. Did I tell you this already? I don’t think I did, and if I did it wouldn’t have been official because I don’t think I would have registered for classes at that point!

I really cant focus on this essay, but I need to try! It’s due tomorrow! Take deep breaths!

I’m so so so so sorry I haven’t written in sooooo long. I miss you so much, I don’t know why I haven’t. I really miss having you to talk to, Rima. I feel like I could tell you more than I can tell anyone else, because I always knew you wouldn’t judge me about anything. I think about you almost every day. I wish you would come back. I’ve probably said this all before but I’m saying it again, haha.

Anyways, things have been kind of messy lately in my life. I guess mainly, I’ve been a mess. I’ve been kind of irresponsible and keep on taking risks I shouldn’t. Plus I’m working almost every night now, so it’s really hard to get all my work done, let alone focus on it. I seem to keep making mistakes. I’m also pretty stressed out that my brother is in Japan now. I don’t want anything to happen to him. I feel like I’ve been hurting a lot of people lately without meaning to, and I don’t know what to do to make it better.

Sorry to be so negative!! It’s been a roller coaster, though. I have had some fun but then there are always consequences. Chicago was really awesome though! My friend Henry opened for Passion Pit! It was really amazing. But at the same time I wonder if I should continue going to Chicago because I feel like everytime I do, someone gets hurt (namely Henry). I want to be friends…but yeah.

GAH. I have a lot of pretty twisted stories to tell you actually. We should probably skype sometime soon! Can we pretty please?? By the way, I LOVE the shaved head. YOU’VE GOT BALLS, BITCH! <3
